Overview of activity in Royal Ascot – August 2023

INCIDENTS

Commercial – 5

  • 01/08/2023 – Royal Ascot Commercial – Theft
    An on-site security officer reported that a female suspect had stolen 3 bars of baby soap and 1 bottle of sunlight liquid. The stolen items totalled less than R100. The suspect was given a stern talking to and warning by the security officer and the store manager.
  • 2/08/2023- Royal Ascot Commercial- Theft
    The control room received a call from a shop in The Paddocks about a shoplifter that was detained. Armed response was dispatched, and SAPS informed. The suspect was handed over to SAPS.
  • 21/08/2023- Royal Ascot Commercial – Theft
    On-site security officers detained a suspect for shoplifting at The Paddocks. SAPS was informed and it was found that the suspect stole 12 chocolate slabs. No SAPS personnel arrived, and the suspect was released after 4 hours.
  • 23/08/2023- Royal Ascot Commercial – Theft
    Security at The Paddocks reported a pick pocket incident that had occurred in one of the shops. The suspect was detained, and the victim’s phone was retrieved. The victim didn’t want to open a case and the suspect was released.
  • 27/08/2023- Royal Ascot Commercial – Theft
    While on patrol on the R27 one of our response officers noticed an unknown male jumping onto the back of a truck where he started to cut the cables on the back. Our officer chased the suspect and detained the suspect. SAPS was informed and the suspect was handed over to them. The driver of the truck opened a case, and the suspect was arrested.

Residential – 2

  • 04/08/2023- Royal Ascot – House Break-In
    While on patrol, one of our armed response officers was stopped by a resident in the area. The resident reported that her house had just been broken into by 3 males driving a white Hyundai.  CCTV footage was viewed, the vehicle identified, and info loaded onto the license plate recognition system.
  • 07/08/2023- Royal Ascot – Robbery
    A resident phoned in to report the robbery of a woman on Grand National Boulevard. Our response officer was given a description of the suspect, and he searched the area. The suspect was detained in Parade Ring Road with the stolen property on him. SAPS was informed and the suspect was handed over to them. The woman opened a case.
